Ok granted I can't the effective mobile wifi range of my lappy by much but I am going to try the best I can. From home, presuming I was so inclined I could have a very impressive wifi range with some custom "hardware" (although at the end of the even the most sensitive antenna can only receive so much).
I am more concerned with boosting effective wifi range as my particular city has a low wifi profile. I know a bunch of complicated and potentially pacemaker disabling alternatives but I wanna stay with fcc guidelines.
I am going to assume my default dell mini isn't composed of gold so I really have two choices when it comes to practical boosting of wifi transmission and reception:
1. Antenna in nic port and
2. USB mini
Bottom line: What alternative will give me the most cost effective boost to practical range and what would that range be (to pick up enough signal to constitute a 56.6k modem reception and transmission)? Price and availability are factors as welfare is not giving me loads of cash for solid gold antennas. Z/Z
