HP/Compaq nc 6320 laptop.
first, i installed Win7 64bit - has no issues.
then i did a clean install of Kubuntu 11.10 64bit (from cd).
then i did a clean install of BackTrack5 (from dvd).
from this point forward, any/all comments will be concerning the Linux OSs - not Windows 7 (unless commented specifically as such).
i can boot to either BackTrack5 or Kubuntu 11.10 without any issues.
i can shut down/restart BackTrack5 without any hesitation.
i cannot shut down/restart Kubuntu 11.10 at all - i have tried the usual buttons for shutting down and restarting, i have also tried opening XTerm to perform an 'init 6' command, but it states that i am not root. when i try an 'su' from XTerm, no matter which password i type in, it is incorrect.
at this point, while still in Kubuntu, i had to hold the power button until the laptop shut down completely.
this is less than ideal. if anyone has ideas, i'd be more than happy to test those ideas. :)
also... BackTrack5 does not recognize my wireless adapter (built-in), as such i cannot get onto my wireless network.
