Hack a Day
The Amp Hour, a podcast of electronics enthusiasts and professionals alike, just did an epic interview with [Joe Grand]. Along with hosts [Chris Gammell] and [Dave Jones], the discussion runs the gamut of points of interest in the hardware hacking world. The first vignette explores the rise, run, and fall of Prototype This, an engineering-centric TV [...]

Hack a Day
Normally when we hear of a Champ guitar amp, we think of a sweet-sounding rig that puts out 6 Watts through an 8-inch speaker. [John Chambers] of Champ Electronics wanted to build a true champion for the field of battle and came up with The Champ 1000 Watt Tube Amp, an amplifier that probably puts [...]

Hack a Day
A few years back, [Gio] decided to try his hand at building a couple of tube amplifiers. The first amp was more of an experiment to see how well a DIY single-ended tube amp would sound. The amp is based off the 6T9 design created by Spare Time Gizmos, and incorporates a pair of 6T9 [...]

Hack a Day
[Valentin] bought a small battery-powered cube speaker with a built-in amp some time ago, but didn’t have much patience for replacing or recharging the batteries. It sat on the shelf for awhile until he decided to revive an old MP3 player he had sitting around. He gutted a pair of solar garden lamps, retaining the [...]

Hack a Day
In need of an amplifier for his home entertainment system [Afroman] decided to build an amp rather than buying one. If nothing else, doing it himself allowed for a form factor that can’t just go out and buy. He designed the project on two separate boards, one for the power supply and the other for [...]

I did an apt-get update && upgrade.
One update was wine, which I use.
Now wine is broken, messed up. Something went weird.
I tried uninstalling, re installing. But it didn't work.
Is there a way to re install it from the live cd?
If so I need step by step commands.
I'm a noob, please don't kill me..

Hack a Day
We like to check in from time to time on the scratch-built tube amp scene. [Rogers Gomez] recently posted his build of a headphone tube amp. This is somewhat related to his work from 2008, but this time around it’s simple enough to serve as an entry into amplifier construction for beginners. The PCB layout [...]

I am deciding on which wifi card I should get. Either the 500mw or the 1000mw alpa networking booster card. Anyone here tried either cards. I search the forum and saw that some people were using the 500mw but want I to know if anyone has experienced better performance with the 1000mw or even the 2000mw adapter card?
Thanks
