Packet Storm Security Advisories
When using PostgreSQL JDBC driver version 8.1 to connect to a PostgreSQL version 9.1 database, escaping of JDBC statement parameters does not work and SQL injection attacks are possible.

Packet Storm Security Advisories
Zero Day Initiative Advisory 12-044 - This vulnerability allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code on vulnerable installations of Microsoft's Remote Desktop Protocol. Authentication is not required to exploit this vulnerability. The specific flaw exists during handling of an error while loading elements into an array. This condition can cause the driver to abort a connection and part of the logic of the abort is to free an object associated with it. This will actually occur twice when each of channels are disconnected. The second time this object is freed, the driver will fetch a virtual pointer from the freed object and call it. This can lead to code execution under the context of the driver.

Hack a Day
Here are the power and driver boards that [Miceuz] designed to control a three-phase induction motor. This is his first time building such a setup and he learned a lot along the way. He admits it’s not an industrial quality driver, but it will work for motors that need 200 watts or less of power. [...]

[Bart] built a couple dozen Pololu compatible relay drivers. If you have a Reprap, you’re probably familiar with the Pololu stepper motor driver. These tiny pieces of kit provide stepper motor control for Gen 6, RAMPS, or Sanguinololu Reprap electronics. There’s a small problem with all these boards, though; there’s no way to control any [...]

Hack a Day
The Arduino has been used for many purposes, and “shields” are available to make many common tasks easier. However, [Nick] wanted a stackable motor driver shield, so he build one himself!. There are many motor driver shields available for the Arduino, however, there aren’t any that allow one to drive as many motors as were [...]

Hack a Day
[TBJ] is building what he calls a junkbox 3D printer. You can probably guess that he’s trying to salvage most of the parts for the device, and after pulling a stepper motor from an old printer he was in need of a way to control it. What he came up with is a stepper driver [...]

Hack a Day
[Paul] wrote in to tell us about this LED driver board he’s been working on with a few friends. The collaborators had been unhappy with the Lumens per Watt ratings (or lack of a rating) on low powered LEDs and set out to find a better solution. They picked up the beefy ASMT-MT00 which houses [...]

[Bob Coggeshall] has a nice Nixie tube driver board coming down the pipes. It’s not quite ready yet but you can see by the image above, it offers something that isn’t always easy to find; control for B7971 tubes which can display the full spectrum of alpha-numeric characters. This board is not limited to just one type [...]

Hack a Day
The AutoNOMOS labs project has found a new way to maneuver its vehicles, your brain. We have looked at a previous version that uses a mostly computerized van under remote control from an iPhone. This one however, named “Brain Driver”, places the operator in the driver’s seat with an EEG strapped to their head. Going [...]

The competition for the first Open Source driver for the Kinect is heating up. [Marcan42] has released a driver that does video and depth. He was able to do this without an Xbox and you can see it in action after the break. [LadyAda] has been hard at work as well, recording and dumping the [...]

Hack a Day
Full of video and audio sensors, the newly released Kinect is Microsoft’s answer to Nintendo’s Wii MotionPlus and Sony’s PlayStation Move. Now there is money up for grabs to hack it. Adafruit is offering up a one thousand dollar prize to open source the driver for the Kinect. What do they want this driver to [...]

[Dan Kouba's] parents replaced their doorbell button with one that lights up and found that the chime wouldn’t stop sounding after the button was pushed. These lighted buttons use an incandescent bulb in parallel with the button (a piece of hardware we’ve hacked in the past). It draws a small amount of current which isn’t [...]

Hi,
I tried my best to read about how to install the driver for my intel 5300 agn on my lenovo ideapad y550p machine on BT4 but in vain.
When I do a ifconfig -a, it says there are no devices, so that means the OS has not recognized the card's existence.
I am using a USB bootup. I have the latest kernel 2.6.31...and the driver from intellinuxwireless.org.
Could someone please guide me as to how i need to install this particular driver on my system.
Many many thanks, I am sure this is going to help many users.
Thanks,
Raqeeb

Backtrack 4 load testing rtl8187 driver.
I know that includes the old driver r8187.
To make the change to our wifi driver must stop the interface to edit the file after locking drivers, go to:
# ifconfig wlan0 down
# vi / etc / modprobe.d / blacklist
we need to find and replace the r8187 driver blacklist r8187 blacklist rtl8187 by, so that we replace the load module by default we are really interested. Save, close and proceed to replace the driver loaded but SHOW ME AN ERROR.
# rmmod rtl8187
root @ bt: ~ # rmmod rtl8187
ERROR: Module rtl8187 does not exist in / proc / modules
What should I do? I'm doing wrong? How do I do?
my English is not very good, sorry.
thanks!
I expect an answer

currently if you run
Code:
apt-get install cuda-sdk cuda-toolkit
It tries to isntall
cuda-sdk
cuda-toolkit
nvidia-driver
.... That's great. Except for the fact that I had to use a different nvidia driver (the one from their site) because the one in the repositories isn't working for me.
Is there any possibility that the cuda related packages could not have that specific driver listed as a dependancy so that I don't have this issue? Or alternatively is there any way to force apt-get to ignore the fact that it has the driver listed as a dependancy for the 2 cuda related packages?
