For instructions to get android sdk (adb/fastboot) up and running. fastboot wasnt in the current sdk. i downloaded release 1.6.r1 from http://developer.android.com/sdk/older_releases.html and put that in my platform-tools directory.

Follow instructions. make sure to copy the Xoom-Universal-Root.zip to EXTERNAL sdcard before you start :-)

I followed the instructions exactly as written and after reboot the Xoom was rooted.

For BT5:

go here http://www.backtrack-linux.org/downloads/, download BT5 for ARM.

unzip file, follow instructions in readme. It takes awhile to copy and extract things. I had two adb shells so i could watch the progress.

The result:
Of course, about 5 seconds of trying to type on it made me not think it was so cool. So if there is an easy way to make it suck less to send text the console let me know.

I am wanting to change my clock time and I noticed I am not allowed to do so

When i want to do stuff from root at the command line it allows me I changed the default password of toor to my password after boot and I can do command line linux admin things without problem.

Everytime I try something that involves KDE root access it rejects my password.

Getting Fast-track working on Ubuntu 9.10 32-Bit

I've been playing around for the last few hours trying to get this working.

I've read many forum posts on different forums, but I still haven't got it working.

It doesn't help that all of the Fast-track websites are down, both "Secure State" and "The Pen Test".

I've done all sorts of weird stuff like create a user called "postgres", and I can't count many ruby libraries I've installed.

Here's the versions I'm working with:
Metasploit v3.3.4-dev
Fast-track v4.0

When I run Fast-track, it tests for dependencies and everything comes back OK except for pymills. I searched the web for pymills and it seems to have disappeared into a black hole, seems like the Russians came and kidnapped the developers.

If I do:

Code: python fast-track.py -i Enter 2 for Autopwn.
Enter the IP address.
Enter 2 for Reverse Binding.

Then it loads Metasploit but here's what I get, check out the errors in red:

Atheros in master mode AP doesn't work in BT4F?

Hi all, BT4 Final is great! But creating a fake AP in master mode on my atheros ar5007 doesn't seem to work. I like master mode for its great AP speeds. I can't get a softAP over 5kB/s, no matter what MTU I try.
I'm using nick_the_greek's great wlan_nick script, as an aid in creating them. master mode in bt4pf was like I had a 50+kB/s normal AP, low latency and everything.
ath5k drivers don't support master mode. Now I tried the latest madwifi-ng drivers. I can make an ath0 VAP in master mode, but when I try starting airbase, it fails:

With BT4 PF and beta it seemed to work fine tho...
Ideas anyone?..

What is this?
This is my walk though of how I broke into the De-ICE.net network, level 1, disk 1.
The De-ICE.net network is on a "live PenTest CD", that creates a target(s) on which to practise penetration testing; it has an "end goal" to reach.

Buenas Noches a todos,

El Porque de Este Tutorial (unicamente para principiantes, los demas paciencia jeje)

Estaba hoy en la oficina pensando en que debia contribuir a la comunidad que tanto me ha ayudado a mi, asi que decidi hacer este mini tutorial para las personas a las que le interese todo lo que es seguridad de redes inalambricas en general.

En esta oportunidad voy a cubrir unicamente rasgos muy generales de la suite que viene por defecto con Backtrack 4 (aircrack-ng) unicamente ya que cuando hablamos de seguridad de wireless pues es un tema bastante extenso y ustedes deberan leer y buscar informacion de lo que mas le interese. :D

Datos Legales

Este documento es escrtito unicamente con el proposito de orientar a las personas a que realizen las mejores practicas de seguridad posible, del mismo modo que esta destinado a propositos meramente educacionales y por ningun motivo una persona deberia entrar a una red o sistema computacional sin el debido permiso.

Que es este tool del que voy a hablar:

Airmon-ng: Es una herramienta que permite poner nuestras tarjetas inalambricas en modo monitor para de esta manera poder hacer "tareas" que de otra forma no serian posibles.

Aireplay-ng: es una herramienta que nos permite inyectar paquetes a un access point (AP) en este caso un router, para que la capturacion de datos no tome siglos.

Airodump-ng: es una herramienta que nos permite hacer un "dump" de los paquetes que son enviados a travez del AP, capturaarlos y analizarlos.

Aircrack-ng: la palabra lo dice todo, es la herramienta que se usa para crackear si ese tesmino aplica, las claves de dichas redes dependiendo de cual sea la situacion.

Ahora que ya tenemos idea de que es lo que vamos a usar vamos a setear todo.

Que necesitamos:

Una laptop con BT4 (live cd o instalado)
Un AP (router)

Y bien, supongamos que nuestra red se llama conejo, tiene "encriptacion wep" y queremos entrar. ahora que hacemos???

Tenemos que hacer varias cosas como lo son:

- Ver que tarjeta tenemos
- "bajarla" para poder hacer cambios en la forma en que trabaja.
- cambiar nuestra mac address por seguridad
- activar modo monitor en la tarjeta

Aqui esta una ides de como se debe hacer, al menos a mi me funciona de esta forma :)

Ahora tenemos que "monitorear" los paquetes que van destinados al AP con lo siguiente

Y ahora "agarrar" esos paquetes con lo siguiente:

Ahora, si no sentamos a esperar quela "DATA" llegue a unos 15000 paquetes (minimo requerido para encontrar la clave web" entonces podremos tardar horas en eso, es por eso que aqui viene nuestro querido aireplay-ng a la jugada....

Asi que lo que tenemos que hacer es lo siguiente: inyectar paquetes al AP para que los IV's (initialization vectors) que es donde se encuentra la clave se generen mas rapido, haciendo lo siguiente:

Despues de esto, que tensmos suficientes IVS or DATA entonces vamos a lo ultimo ya que es crackear la password.

I am trying to follow online instructions from all over to install the intel pro wirless driver in to BT4.

I am trying to currently install the Ieee802.11 modual and i get this.

Audio en BT 4 Final

Buenas, eh visto que varios tienen problemas con el audio cuando crean un usuario y usan BT desde un usuario comun.

lo solucione asi:

root@bt:~# gpasswd -a $NOMBRE_DE_USUARIO audio

y listo!

Tambien recuerden tenerlo agregado en el archivo /etc/sudoers

en esta parte agreguen su usuario

# User privilege specification
root ALL=(ALL) ALL
$NOMBRE_DE_USUARIO ALL=(ALL) ALL

Esto es solo para cuando el sistema necesite ejecutar procesos lanzados por ustedes con privilegios de root, por ejemplo montar discos, desmontar, cambiar la hora, y algunos otros...

Recuerden cambiar $NOMBRE_DE_USUARIO por su nombre de usuario real

Somit kann ich nicht mit ihr arbeiten. Es handelt sich um eine PCMCIA Karte.

Ich habe schon versucht die Karte mithilfe dieses Tutorials zu installieren:

Dabei habe ich ein Problem mit dem Compilen.

Ich habe noch von einer Lösung via ndiswrapper gelesen, aber damit erzielte ich auch keine Erfolge, aber dazu hatte ich kein konkretes tutorial.

salve a tutti, ho installato bt4 final su usb con persistent mode, tutto ok, il problema che vorrei capire come risolvere è il fatto che prima di dare startx mi logga automaticamente come root e quindi esce "root@bt:" ho provato ad impostare lo user ma non mi chiede il login come la prefinal sempre su usb, qualcuno ha idea di come posso fare x mettere almeno il mio nick al posto di root@bt? Grazie

Bonjour à tous et bravo pour ce forum que je lis depuis qlqs semaines déjà;

j'ai un dell vostro 1520 et une cle Alfa AWUS036EH RTL8187L. Avec BT4 avec un clé wifi AWUS036EH RTL8187L en VMware (image telecharger sur le site officiel)
BT4 se lance bien en revanche ne detecte pas ma cle Alpha. je lance les commandes suivante :

root@bt:~# iwconfig
lo no wireless extensions.

eth0 no wireless extensions.

root@bt:~# lsusb
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
root@bt:~# airmon-ng

Interface Chipset Driver

bon rien...; je telecharger et j'install un driver et le patch, ca ne marche pas, j'en install un autre (telecharger sur un tuto d'air crack) la commande make passe bien donc pour moi le drivers est installé mais toujours rien dans iwcondif et airmon

voila, donc la je suis un peu perdu, je pense que le controleur usb n'est peut etre pas reconnu.....?

auriez vous une piste svp !!! :)

Salutation les gens,

je parcours votre forum depuis quelques temps déjà, c'est un sacré boulot ! félicitation.

Si je viens vers vous aujourdhui, parceque dans un premier temps je dbute un peu sous linux donc il me manque des connaissance de base, mais j'apprends :)

Je viens d'acquerir une AWUS036 8187L, apparement bonne reputation et logiquement détectable par BT4. BT4 tourne sous vmware (image telecharger sur le site officiel). Aucun soucis pour le moment, l'os fonction.

Le probleme : ma clé alfa n'est visiblement pas reconnu, mais je me demande s'il ne s'agit pas plutot d'un probleme de controlleur usb :

eth0 no wireless extensions.

j'ai reinstallé le driver trouvé sur le net sans succes lors de la commande make et aussi testé avec les driver d'air cracks (aircrack-ng.org/doku.php?id=r8187]r8187 [Aircrack-ng]) avec succès mais toujours rien dans iwconfig et airmon-ng

c'est pour cela que j'en déduit un probleme avec le controleur usb.... en revanche quand je regarde sur le net avec les mots clé usb et linux, on tombe bien evidemment sur liveusb et autres....

en esperant que vous pourrez me faire avancer dans mon schlimbic...
