Hack a Day
Anyone who has played Minecraftfor a good amount of time should have a good grasp on making 3D objects by placing voxels block by block. A giant voxel art dragon behind your base is cool, but what about the math behind your block based artwork? [mikolalysenko] put together a tutorial for making 3D objects out of video [...]

Hack a Day
We were all children at one time, and surely some of us remember the pain of trying to make one type of building block work with another type of block. The folks at the Free Art and Technology Lab have an answer for your inner child: adapters that connect any type of building block to any [...]

Packet Storm Security Advisories
The Drupal block class module allows users to add classes to any block through the block's configuration interface The class names in a block were not properly filtered. Someone with the ability to modify or create blocks could inject java script that would be rendered when viewing the block. Blockclass versions prior to 7.x-1.0 are affected.

Hack a Day
At Hack A Day, we’re pretty big Minecraft fans so you can imagine our interest when we saw [Ben Purdy]‘s real-life Minecraft block. The build uses a projector system to display a block onto a cardboard box and reacts to being ‘mined’ just like in the game. Block animation is handled by a piezo sensor, [...]

Hack a Day
[Laurence] was racking his brain coming up with potential birthday gifts for his friend when the idea of a Super Mario Bros. coin block lamp popped into his head. The block is constructed from drain pipe, a few pieces of plywood, some perspex, and a whole lot of awesome. He wanted the lamp to make [...]

Packet Storm Security Advisories
Zero Day Initiative Advisory 11-139 - This vulnerability allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code on vulnerable installations of Apple Safari Webkit. User interaction is required to exploit this vulnerability in that the target must visit a malicious page or open a malicious file. The specific flaw exists within the library's implementation of a frame element. When parsing a malformed document embedded inside an SVG document, the library will create an anonymous block around a frame element in the block's contents. When freeing this anonymous block via an assignment to the read-only .textContent attribute, a reference to one of the child elements will still exist. Accessing this child element can then lead to code execution under the context of the application.

Hack a Day
Instructables user [Bruno] recently constructed a fun little toy that brings a bit of the Mario nostalgia out of the video game universe and into ours. His Super Mario coin block is instantly recognizable from the first Mario game and performs just as you would expect it to. Punching or tapping the bottom of the [...]

Packet Storm Security Advisories
The VUPEN Vulnerability Research Team discovered a critical vulnerability in Apple Safari. The vulnerability is caused by an integer overflow error in the WebKit library when handling block dimensions, which could be exploited by remote attackers to compromise a vulnerable system by tricking a user into visiting a specially crafted web page. Versions 5.0.3 and below are affected.

Hack a Day
This gorgeous persistence of vision clock was built a couple years back by [mb1988]. The housing is made of acrylic with a hard drive motor mounted in the center of the back panel to spin a PCB. The two-sided circuit board is home-made and includes a battery for power, ATmega32 for the brain, 32 LEDs, [...]
